I have been doing a lot of thinking. I have done a lot of research. I have read parts of his book, and I have read books about him. I have listened to his words and I have read his speeches. I have looked into his history and associations. From all of this I have come to the conclusion that, if elected, an Obama presidency will be a bad thing for the America we know. That being said while I will be affected by his higher taxes, because I am "ultra-rich", I will not suffer as much as those who vote for him.

Obama himself says in his book that people are going to be disappointed because he has become so many different things to so many people. I agree, but I think he is deliberately leading these people on. His speeches don't give any idea of what he is going to do. They are flowery and full of words that mean little unless tied to a direction. People are voting for words, like "Hope", and not realizing the direction.  I have seen smart people fall into the lure of believing he is going to their solve problems, including problems he hasn't even spoken to. People are falling prey to his charisma and associating their wants and needs with his candidacy.

I have heard people talk about how different he is, but his ideas are as old as they were when Karl Marx first came up with them. They have failed time and again, Roosevelt, Hoover, Carter, and the USSR to name a few. Even the Chinese now embrace capitalism. His plans to redistribute wealth using the tax system are ridiculous and dangerous.

If he achieves half of what he says there will be less jobs, poorer healthcare and more government waste. Obama isn't a bad man. He just thinks he is smarter than you are and therefore a better judge of what to do with your money. Unfortunately he is not as smart as he thinks he is, and noone knows what you need better than you do.

My family and I will be okay. I am smart and capable, and I have avoided financial pitfalls before. Higher taxes will be a burden, but I won't hire people to cut my lawn or fix my sprinklers, it sucks to be them but I can't worry about everyone. I won't go out to eat or go on vacation as often either. We will hunker down and save our pennies, protecting our family.

I also have the luxury of not being disappointed when he fails. I don't expect him to help me, so when he doesn't I won't be bothered. I feel sorry for the people who faint at his rallys and swear allegiance to him because they believe he is going to save them, but he will not and can not. You can only save yourself.

Hank United States on 10/30/2008 2:52 PM Oiy Vey....how about voting for him because he's not McCain?

The graduated tax system in general is wealth re-distribution. Unless it's a flat tax, treating everyone equally across the board, it's a hoax to think of it as fair.  Politicians like it that way because they can divide the voters, if it was like a sales tax, which everyone pays the exact same, you couldn't pit one side vs. the other now could you.  You could only game the percentage, and the minimum threashold for taxable income.  That would be too simple.  How many local politicians bother to spend time dealing with the sales tax....ummm...none.

AND....I might point out my ultra wealthy friend, you only have a slight increase(if the plan even goes through) on the income you earn over the $250,000 mark, for everything below that, you pay the same as me, and by the time you factor in your newest tax deductions ((HHHUUUGGGEEE congrats on that one by the way!!!)) and the morgage deduction etc, you might not even be in that top bracket, so it's really no worry.

AND...considering how far we've come in the last 10 years my brothah, you should be thrilled to even be knocking on that door.  I would be.

Wait....just got an email from "Joe Biden"....wonder what he wants, gotta go!

No Keane!  No Phone!!
